Super Hero Day at the Library.
Getting Cody to actually look at the camera these days is impossible!!

I made these little capes for the kids. I'm pretty sure they were the only ones at the library wearing something home made. It probably would have been a lot cheaper to buy something already made from the store, but it was a lot of fun to make them (material is expensive these days). Plus Cody loves his super hero cape!! He runs around the house wearing it all the time, and when the neighbors come over, they fight over them.
My Super Why!!

Super Why was a huge hit!! He was the littlest super hero there!!

The Penn Area library has been awesome!! We go every Monday to story time and then about once month they have a fun activity in the evening that Russ and I can take the boys to. This month was obviously a Super Hero party. All the kids came dressed as a super hero and played super hero games and read super hero stories and ate super hero snacks.
Cody has a little bit of a hard time being involved in what the other kids are doing. I have started really working with him at home so that he isn't the kid always standing in the corner. It's kind of funny that he is that way, because I wouldn't really consider him a shy kid. When he does get involved it is really cute and he does a very good job.
Cody definitely challenges me on a daily basis. Let's just say I am not a huge fan of age 3. He is a very funny and extremely smart kid, which is probably why I get so frustrated. In my mind, a kid who can start his own DVD, pop his own popcorn, say the ABC's, has the vocabulary and clarity of a 6 year old, and the comprehension of a 4 year old really ought to be potty trained. But alas, he is not, nor is he anywhere near ready. The thought of having to go potty in the toilet is the farthest from his mind. He keeps telling me "I like to go potty in my diaper like my baby brother." As a matter of fact, he has never gone pee or poo in the potty one single time. I know potty training has nothing to do with intelligence, but damn I got irritated. We don't even talk about it anymore, I have completely given up and decided that it'll happen when it happens. If it means he doesn't get to go to preschool because he isn't potty trained then fine, I will consider it as Cody making his own decision to miss out on opportunities. I don't say that to be mean or uncaring, I just can't dwell on it, or it becomes to much of a strain in our home.
I have decided that I will focus on the things he does well, because there are so many!! He can get dressed by himself, knows most of his colors, sings the ABC's, cleans up his toys, sings lots of songs, and remembers EVERYTHING!!
Cody does not understand how far away we are from family, he asks to visit grandparents, aunts, cousins, and friends all of the time. I feel so bad explaining to him constantly that we can't because we are so far away. He gets upset and tells me "I don't like our PennsylBANIA, I want to go back to the old house." He misses having a truck, trailer, 4 wheelers, horses, and room to run. The newness of this place is wearing off and he is not loving it. The best thing is we'll get to experience this all again when Wyatt is 3 and we have to move again.
Wyatt continues to be such an easy going little guy. He is such an easy baby. He decided all on his own that he is done with his binky, I won't even have to take it away from him. Now that we've got all his reflux medications taken care of, he'll usually sleep from 8 pm until 5:30 or 6 am, drink a bottle and go back to sleep for another two hours. He is getting so close to crawling... not that he needs to, he has the ability to get to anything he wants, including the fireplace, electrical outlets, and any scrap of garbage on the floor. He is such a big boy and loves to eat anything we are eating, and is not really a big fan of baby food. You would think for as big as he is that he eats all of the time, but he really doesn't eat much, and often times I think he should be eating more. I suppose he's got calories to burn.
Russ is doing extremely well in school. He studies hard and scores high on all of his tests. He has started trying to learn to rope, much to Cody's dismay, since Cody usually ends up being "the cow."
I have been learning to be a stay at home mom. There may be some out there that this particular skills comes naturally, but I am not one of those people. It's definitely not easy.... going to work is so much easier for me. One thing I have enjoyed is having the time to cook dinner every night, and not eating out so much. I have decided that I don't much like living in townhouses, I know far to much about my neighbors. I am grateful for our situation while Russ is in school, but I really don't think it'll be permanent. We call our townhouse the "rabbit pen." I guess you can take the girl out of the country but you can't take the country out of the girl.
That's pretty much us. We are excited for halloween and for our trip home that is quickly arriving.
